Welcome to Year 6. Your child's final year in primary school is an important year with external tests and transition to secondary school. We focus heavily on leadership, secondary school preparation, and key national assessments as well as ensuring children continue to engage in extra curriculum activities and receive a broad and balanced curriculum. We will ensure that all children are equipped with the skills and knowledge to prepare them for secondary school, both academically and personally. 

What to Expect in the Classroom;

The curriculum accelerates quickly to ensure students are fully prepared for the academic challenges of secondary education.

• SATS Exams: Pupils sit national tests in May covering reading, SPAG (spelling, punctuation, and grammar), and maths.
• English: Children analyse complex texts, write extended essays, and master advanced grammar like active and passive voice.
• Maths: The focus shifts to advanced fractions, ratio, proportion, introduction to algebra, and multi-step word problems.
