Year 6 Questionnaire

Dear Year 6 Parents,

We have been asked by LBBD Local Authority to gather the views of Year 6 pupils in relation to returning to school, and their transition to secondary school.

I would be grateful if you could spend some time with your child completing the questionnaire, by clicking on the link below.

Please note that this should be completed by all pupils, regardless of whether they will be returning to Gascoigne on 8th June or not.

Questionnaire for Y6 pupils

If you would like to discuss your child's return to school, or their transition to secondary school, then please do not hesitate to contact Mr. Fox at:

Your assistance with the questionnaire would be greatly appreciated.

Important - Use Seesaw to speak with your teacher!

Download the Seesaw Class app via your app store. Use your 12-digit personal text code.

Your child can then share their learning with their teacher and receive feedback.

This opportunity is available for pupils in all year groups, from Nursery to Year 6.

What is the Coronavirus?

If you are interested to find out a bit more about what the coronavirus is, a children's book has been produced and released for free to give you answers to some of your questions. It is illustrated by Axel Sheffler, who also illustrated The Gruffalo. You can read it by clicking on the link below:

Below I have attached the most recent issue of First News - the newspaper for children. Please have a read of it to keep up with news and current affairs from around the world!

School Closure - Home Learning

Hello Year 6!

Even though you are not at school at the moment, we know you do not want to miss out on any learning! Therefore, we have tried to ensure that you can continue your learning journey from home. Please complete all of your learning in your home learning books.

Each day you will have a reading, PE, maths, SPaG, writing and foundation subject activity to complete.

Some worksheets/activities may have answers attached or included to support your parents when they are working with you.

Parents - If you have time, please check each day’s tasks before letting your children see them so that you can support them as appropriate and ensure they complete the work independently.

Things we still expect to see in your home learning books:

  • Complete ALL work each day.
  • Only begin a new page when you have finished the one you are on.
  • Put the short date and the LO/title before completing each task (if you have a ruler at home, underline it. If not, do not underline the date and LO).
  • Neatest, joined handwriting.
  • The same high expectations in your home learning book as in your school books.

All teachers will be regularly making sure that all children have books to read on their Bug Club accounts and tasks on their MyMaths accounts. We also expect all children to make sure they are regularly practising their timetables on TT Rock Stars.

Twinkl has given free access to their resources, which may be useful for parents. Follow the instructions below to access them:

Create an account and enter code: CVDTWINKLHELPS

Please click on KS2 and there you can search through an abundance of resources. You can search for things like reasoning papers, arithmetic papers, reading papers and science resources.

If children or parents have any questions about the home learning at all, please feel free to email Mr Berry (Year Group Leader), using the contact form below or at, and he will get back to you as soon as he possibly can to support you.

Please check the school website everyday at 9am to be welcomed and prepared for the day and then again at 3pm to reflect on the day.

Thank you for your hard work and continuous support in these uncertain times.
