Full CalendarAll Events CalendarTrips/Events

This event will take place between 9:30am and 10:45am on 07/03/2024

Dear Parents / Carers,

RE: Y1 Visit to Al Noor Mosque on Thursday 7th March 2024.

I would like to inform you of an exciting opportunity we are offering your child this term. On Thursday 7th March, the children in Year 1 will have the opportunity to visit a mosque within the Gascoigne community. The aim of this visit is to support the pupils’ learning of the Year 1 R.E. curriculum that looks at ‘What does it mean to belong to Islam?’

This is a wonderful opportunity for our children to visit a place of worship and respecting other cultures and beliefs in our local community. In line with British Values, Gascoigne Pupils will develop their respect for the culture and beliefs of others. Additionally, they will develop an appreciation of our diverse, multi-faith community.

Through exploration of the mosque, the children will have first-hand experience of the features of a mosque. Additionally, the children will be able to meet with religious leaders and discuss what belonging looks like in Islam. The children will then be able to reflect on this session, comparing and contrasting what belonging looks like in other religions that they have learned about.

Your child’s class will be visiting AL Noor Mosque following register in the morning. They will leave around 9.30 and be back in their respective classes latest by 10.45, their morning break time.

We are always grateful to parents who are able to support pupils on educational visits. If you are a DBS checked parent with us, we would be grateful if you can accompany us on the day for the time duration.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs Vora
