Time for a terrific Thursday!
Hello again Year One, and welcome back to the writing page. I really hope you've been enjoying the story of Jabuti the Tortoise this week. All of the settings, and characters, and feelings in the story - it really is a wonderful book.
I'd just like you to familiarise yourself one more time, so take your time and have another read through...
LO: To write a character description.
Today your task is to read through Jabuti the Tortoise, and pick one of the characters to describe. You might choose Jabuti, or you might choose one of the other animals in the story. Remember, when you are doing a character description you need to talk about their personality and their appearance.
We would like you to note down all the adjectives that describe a character's appearance e.g. fluffy, colourful, silky, smooth, rough etc...
Now try and write down all the words that describe the character's personality. For example, are they kind, mean, friendly, loud, bossy etc...
Now you've collated all of your vocabularies, you can begin to write your description of the character. Remember to use the adjectives you've thought of in full sentences.
Make sure you remember all those important writing skills that we always talk about. You need to have neat handwriting, that is on the line. You need to make sure you are using capital letters, full stops and finger spaces whilst rehearsing your sentences out loud before you write them. Best of luck and don’t forget to send them into Seesaw when you’re finished!
