Writing

Good morning Year One,

We hope you are ready for your next task! smiley

Today we are continuing to find out information from our firefighter’s book. You need to get your reading detective glasses ready and prepare to search for some more information.

First of all, you need to re-read the book and remind yourself with the information.

Firefighters book

Well done for reading through the text again.  Now, you are going to describe a fire engine and it has to be a detailed description. Which means you need to describe what you can see as well as what a fire engine does. What equipment does it have? Who uses it? What is its purpose? What does it sound like?

You need to use the information in the book to help you describe what a fire engine is and what it does. You can use the contents page to help you go straight to the page that you need most for your activity.

Once you've found all the information in the book, you could also have a look at the virtual tour below to see some of the equipment inside the fire engine surprise

Your description needs to be as detailed and informative as you can. You can write about the appearance of the engine, but also the equipment on board and how it all works. Make sure you remember all those important writing skills that we talk about. You need to have neat handwriting, that sits on the line. You need to make sure you are using capital letters, full stops and finger spaces whilst rehearsing your sentences out loud before you write them. Best of luck and remember to post your learning on Seesaw when you’re finished.

We can't wait to see them! heart
