To start todays lesson, go over your introduction and the middle part of your story.


You are to then continue to develop your writing. You should be looking at the simple sentences written in your plan and developing these into more complex, descriptive sentences.

This session continues to explore colourful semantics as a strategy to support children to combine words to make 4 word sentences.


To begin this lesson, you will start with the ‘In Focus’ task. Write the column method for 520 – 269. Can you show the subtraction using Base 10 materials? Remember to start regrouping 1 ten as there are 0 ones in 520. After subtracting the ones, you need to regroup 1 hundred into 10 tens as there are not enough tens in 520.


After subtracting the tens, you can proceed to subtract the hundreds as no regrouping is required. By now you should be quite familiar with regrouping and the column method.

During Guided Practice, you will be practising subtraction with regrouping.
