Afternoon Message - Wednesday 21st April 2020

Good afternoon everyone! I hope you have had a lovely day completing your home learning, as well as spending good quality time with your family. I have spent a lot of time today running around after my puppy Kenny - he's a bit of a handful!

He is keeping me company and entertaining me whilst I get on with my work. Hopefully you have a pet/sibling/family member to enjoy your time with whilst you are working.

I am hoping that Ms Iqbal will be able to tell me that lots of other children have completed their music learning and have earnt lots of points on Yumu!

By now you should have completed your diary entry, although some of you may still have a little bit of finishing off to do. Tomorrow we will begin the editing and improving process, which is your opportunity to up-level your writing and make it your best piece yet.

Try to have a restful and relaxing evening and make sure you get an early nights sleep so you are refreshed and ready for tomorrow! :)

Morning Message - Wednesday 22nd April 2020

Happy Wednesday everybody! We are half way through our school week and today you should be finishing off your writing task - a diary entry for one of your Easter holiday days. Remember to try to make it really emotive - I want your diaries to make me fully empathise with you and laugh, cry or smile along with you as if I was actually there.

This afternoon, Ms Iqbal has organised some exciting music lessons using the Yumu platform for you all to take part in. Remember to email me (sberry@gascoigne.co.uk) if you are struggling to login to Yumu and I will try to check your details as quickly as possible, however most of you should have accessed Yumu already and have your login details. I want to see if anyone can beat Wania and Riya's fantastic points scores (check yesterday's message to see their amazing achievements!).

Don't forget to keep your food diary updated throughout the day. Have a great day and I will catch up with you all this afternoon! :)

Please complete Lesson Three (Angles in a Triangle - Special Cases). You can watch the video first to help you, then complete the worksheet and mark it. If you are finding it difficult, re-watch the video or look for other online tutorials (Khan Academy and Mathantics are good places to start).

Writing

Yesterday, you should have begun writing your diary entry based on a day during your Easter break. Today you need to finish writing it, using your plan to support you. Here is a reminder of the instructions I gave you yesterday: Make sure that it is high quality, detailed and descriptive. I should be able to feel your emotions coming through in your writing. You can check the specific diary writing checklist below, as well as the general Year 6 TAF. The TAF is split up into 3 sections - 'Working Towards', 'Expected' and 'Greater Depth'. You should ALL be using everything on the 'Working Towards' section. MOST of you should be able to meet the 'Expected' criteria. SOME of you should be aiming to meet the 'Greater Depth' criteria.

SPaG

Practise your weekly spellings. Copy them into your home learning book and write their definitions.

Complete the SPaG activity below. There is a Powerpoint which you can work through to show you how to answer the questions. You can then work on the varied fluency questions. Select either 'Developing', 'Expected' or 'Greater Depth' depending on how confident you are with the topic. You can then mark your work and move onto the application and reasoning sheet.
