Good Afternoon Year 4

We hope your learning went well and that you enjoyed your activities. How did your recount writing go today? Did you have The Arrival of the Queen of Sheba by George Frideric Handel playing in the background. Did you find it inspiring and uplifting?  Here are the Northern Sydney Youth Orchestra playing The Arrival of the Queen of Sheba in 2010 in Sydney Australia. You may like to watch it later while you are relaxing this evening.

Don’t forget to regularly visit TT Rockstars and Bug Club. Your teachers are monitoring this closely.  Ensure you are reading daily for at least 30 minutes and filling in your Reading Records.

Have a lovely musical evening and stay safe!

Ms Dworniak and the Year 4 Team

Good morning Year 4 and welcome to another exciting day of learning!

In music you will listen to a piece called The Arrival of the Queen of Sheba by  George Frideric Handel (from the Baroque period). Some of you may recognise this piece of music as it was featured at the 2012 London Olympics Opening Ceremony as James Bond (Daniel Craig) went to meet the Queen at Buckingham Palace. It’s so grand and regal! Perhaps you can have it playing in the background while in Literacy today you write a recount from the Highwayman’s point of view!  Some would argue that The Highwayman is regal in many ways similar to Robin Hood, Prince of thieves!

Today in Reading you will look at text about a 13 Year Old lad called Trick Hope. It’s a great piece of descriptive writing about this young lad. I suggest you read it then using a dictionary (or google on the web) find the meaning of all the words you don’t know and write them down. This will help you greatly to understand the text.

Have a great day!
