Afternoon Message - Thursday 2nd April 2020

 

Good afternoon Year 6! 

 

Well done for completing today's learning. I want to say a big thank you to Amira from Sonara class who has emailed me her DT project. I will share it on on Year 6 page for you all to see! I'd love to see even more of your work to add to our collection.

 

I know some of you have been having some difficulties accessing the Yumu website/app to complete your music home learning. Please see the instructions below from Ms Iqbal:

 

Hi Guys, I hope you have managed to login to Yumu.

Reminder:

Step 1- Go to https://lbbdmusichub.charanga.com/yumu

Step 2-Enter your username
Step 3-Enter your password
Step 4-Click on the Log In button.

 

After this, you  should be able to see your assignments.

You can click on the 'Plastic' assignment and you're ready to go.

 

Leave the token code blank, you don't need to worry about that.

 

If you have any other problems, please let me know. I hope you all have a wonderful evening and I look forward to speaking to you again in the morning. :)

Morning Message - Thursday 2nd April 2020

 

Good morning Year 6 - Mr Berry is back again! I hope you are having a great week so far! 

 

I was in school yesterday with Ms Dushku and a few children which was a really nice experience, however it reminded me how much I miss my lovely Year 6s and can't wait to see you all again. We took part in the Joe Wicks daily PE lesson, which was great fun and very tiring - I hope you all take part this morning.

 

You have a really interesting DT lesson this afternoon which gives you the opportunity to be creative. I would really love to see some examples of your DT research so please email any pictures or videos to sberry@gascoigne.co.uk - we have a page set up and ready to go for any work which is sent in. 

 

Also, please make sure your parents check their ParentMail accounts for your Yumu login details. This is the online portal that allows you to access your music lessons. If you are not sure what this is, go back to yesterday's page and check Ms Iqbal's message.

Daily Activities

 

Reading

Read for at least 20 minutes. This could be your school reading book, a home book, Bug Club or another text you enjoy. Identify any new and unknown vocabulary and find the definitions. Make sure you’re answering the bug club quizzes properly, as your teachers can see the answers and respond to you.

 

PE

Complete the daily Joe Wicks (The Body Coach) PE lesson.

Maths

Please complete Lesson 4. You can watch the video first to help you, then complete the worksheet and mark it. If you are finding it difficult, re-watch the video or look for other online tutorials (Khan Academy and Mathantics are good places to start).

 

Writing

Continue to write your non-chronological report. You can look at good examples of non-chronological reports on this website: https://www.literacywagoll.com/non-chronological-report.html

Ensure that you are proofreading and checking your work as you complete each paragraph. Also, ensure that your handwriting is neat, accurate and consistent. 

 

SPaG

Practise your weekly spellings. Copy them into your home learning book and write their definitions.Complete the SPaG activity in the folder. There is a Powerpoint which you can work through to show you how to answer the questions. You can then work on the varied fluency questions. Select either 'Developing', 'Expected' or 'Greater Depth' depending on how confident you are with the topic. You can then mark your work and move onto the application and reasoning sheet.

 

DT

Select a common household object (e.g. vacuum cleaner, toaster, oven, television). Research how this object has been developed over the years. When was it created? Who created it? How has it changed over the years? You can present your work as creatively as you like. Perhaps you could create a poster, a PowerPoint presentation, an information video etc.
