LO:   To make simple inferences about a character's feeling

Purpose:    

To express simple views of a story, giving reasons for their answers. 

  

Vocabulary:   

Character, village, feeling,  brave, strong, determined,  worried, villagers, inference, views 

  

  

Starter: What is the name of the main character? 

 

Main lesson:  

Reread the story and stop at key points, asking children questions.

 

Ask: How do you think you would be feeling if you were one of the children in the village?  

 

Say:  I want you to identify how Lila is feeling when she overhears her mama talking about the well

to the other villagers(worried, determined, brave, strong.)

How is Lila feeling when she sets off on her journey.   (worried, determined, brave, strong.) 

  

Encourage children to expand on their answers by asking: tell me why you think that...  

 

Activity 

Describe how Lila is feeling when she is climbing the mountain, why do you think like that? 

Write a sentence to explain.
