Dear Family,

This week, we're learning to understand the value of RESPECT.

What is Respect?

It is a way of treating or thinking about something or someone. For example,  if you respect your teacher you admire her and treat her well.

Respect also means that you accept somebody for who they are, even when they're different from you or you don't agree with them.

Activity 1

Click on the link to watch the first video- This is Our House by Michael Rosen. Discuss some of the unkind words used by George. Do you think George is being respectful?  How would you feel if you were spoken to or treated like that? How should we be speaking to our friends?

Activity 2

How do we show respect?

Click on the link below to listen to another story by Rana DiOrio and Stephane Jorisch. This story explains how to show RESPECT- kindness, politeness, thankful, listening and serving.

As you listen to the story, discuss how to show RESPECT towards others and the importance of being RESPECTFUL.

What Does It Mean To Be Kind?

Your task is to create a RESPECT poster. You can draw pictures of who to respect, how to show respect and the importance of being respectful.

See some examples below:

Remember, RESPECT should be the first thing you give and it cost NOTHING to RESPECT!
