The Hope Family Trust, via its Foodbank project, will be providing the opportunity for thirty children aged 8yrs to 14yrs to spend time this summer volunteering with the charity and well as engaging in fun and activity. The children will be exploring what it means to volunteer and why it is important to volunteer. They shall each put in 24 hours of volunteering in our foodbank and clothes bank projects after which they get a certificate of completion.
Starting Tuesday 7th August to Friday 17th August for the first batch of thirty children and August 21st to August 31st for the second batch of thirty children, the programme promises to be an immersive experience to stimulate children to be lateral thinkers as well develop social, emotional and character building skills. The children will put these skills into practice during the programme and shall be rewarded for doing so.
They will be touring various child-friendly installations, galleries, museums and parks as part of their two-week programme. Many of these venues are free to children but some of them will attract a small entry fee. Funmi Ikele, the programme co-ordinator and Ekanem Robinson the young people co-ordinator will escort the children on the trips.
