Vice Chair of Governors
Education is yours to keep and stays with you for life. It changes lives and helps you to succeed for yourself, your family, your community, your society and the global world. Education is the right of all child.
It is the school’s responsibility to provide good quality formal education to our children. Learning that not only enriches their brains with knowledge, but develops their hearts, minds, body and voice. The school needs to provide an inclusive, stimulating, learning environment that encourages all children to have ambition to succeed, with equality of opportunity open to them. Seeing a child’s face light up with a smile and feel elated from having achieved is the biggest motivating factor for the betterment of our future.
As the Vice-Chairperson of Gascoigne Primary School Governing Body, I work with the school and Governors to ensure that we provide this fantastic learning hub, where our children reach their potential - which is what they deserve. We are all part of the dynamic energy that does this - the school, the Governors, the parents / carers, children and wider community. Together we learn and grow to make a cohesive, respectful and harmonious neighbourhood for everyone.
What I bring to this role is that I understand what life in Barking and Dagenham is like. Not only was I born, raised and educated here but so were my three children. I have strong leadership experience of eleven years. I am a Service Manager in Community Solutions for the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham (LBBD) and have been a member of various local and national strategic Boards for Safeguarding. I have a Masters level in the National Professional Qualification in Integrated Centre Leadership and have led two children’s centres to be grated as Outstanding by Ofsted. I worked for the LBBD Chief Executive’s Delivery Unit where I used data analysis and insight management for service improvement. I am an activist for human rights and volunteer as a community champion for Remembering Srebrenica and as an Amnesty speaker for Amnesty International.
Most of all and at the centre of my passion, is the education of children. For all the reasons mentioned earlier and for our children’s health, safety, achievement, financial stability and their own contribution to society, I am committed as a governor of Gascoigne Primary School.
