Learning Objective: To relate a story to their own experience.
Activity 1:
Re-cap story. Discuss how the owl babies must have felt when they were on their own on the branch. Have the children ever felt scared? What could the babies do to make themselves feel better? Why do you think Sarah suggested that all of the owls sat together? Does it feel better when you have your friends and family around you?
Activity 2: Encourage your child to talk about how they care for themselves and their friends when they are scared.
Learning Objective: To use the word 'because' to explain why.
Success Criteria:
I can give meaning to marks.
I can orally rehearse a sentence.
I can use the word because to explain my reason.
Key Vocabulary: because, owl, mummy, baby, reason
1. Practise the key vocabulary spellings.
2. Tell an adult why you love the book 'Owl Babies'.
3. Rehearse your sentence e.g. I like Owl Babies because ....
4. Write your sentence. Remember capital letters, full stops and finger spaces!
