Afternoon message- Friday 15th May 2020
Hello again Year 6,
I hope you have had a fantastic learning today. We are all getting better at this new way of learning. A VERY MASSIVE WELL DONE TO YOU ALL! A very well done to all of you who have made an outstanding effort of producing excellent pieces of work.
I hope you all enjoyed improving and editing your writing. Please upload on seesaw so we can appreciate all the brilliant learning taking place at home.
I can’t believe it is already weekend. I think I would be having a relaxing one reading my book and on that note, I would like to wish you all a very restful, relaxing weekend. Do something different but don’t forget to soak in a lovely book.

Morning message- Friday 15th May 2020
Hello Year 6,
I hope you and your families are all keeping safe and well.
Wow! I cannot believe we are already ending the 4th week of the new term. This would have been the end of SATs and I’m sure you have enjoyed your silly SATs week. I also hope you have now adapted very well to this new way of learning. Please continue to stick to the daily routine. It is also very important for the physical and mental health that you partake in the daily exercise with Joe Wicks to help keep yourself active while staying at home.
Please stick to the daily timetable and complete your English, Maths and Science today. I know SATs would have finished if we were in school but this is also the time that you would also be needed to work on your writing so for today’s writing, please pay special attention when editing your work. Use the ITAF to check your writing and don’t forget to include some interesting and ambitious vocabulary and phrases you might have learnt in your daily reading. Also, pay particular attention to punctuation and use it effectively. We can’t wait to read your fantastic stories. Remember to give titles to your stories.

Read for at least 20 minutes. This could be your school reading book, a home book, Bug Club or another text you enjoy. Identify any new and unknown vocabulary and find the definitions.
Today, rather than completing an entire reading comprehension section, you will be focusing on a specific question type. Today is 'What Does This Word Or Phrase Suggest?' type questions. Select the difficulty level, depending on how confident you are with these question types. Each difficulty level comes with 3 or 4 short texts, followed by questions for that particular text. The answers are at the end so that you can self mark.

Please complete today's lesson (check the lesson has today's date!). You can watch the videos first to help you, then complete the activities and mark them. If you are finding it difficult, re-watch the videos or look for other online tutorials (Khan Academy and Mathantics are good places to start).
Today is all about editing and improving your narrative. Read through your piece of writing. Firstly, focus on proof-reading and fixing errors such as spelling mistakes, punctuation mistakes and incomplete sentences. Once you have fixed these simpler errors, begin editing and improving your writing using the Year 6 TAF and word mats (these can all be found on the Tuesday page).
Practise your weekly spellings. Copy them into your home learning book and write their definitions.
Complete the SPaG activity below. There is a Powerpoint which you can work through to show you how to answer the questions. You can then work on the varied fluency questions. Select either 'Developing', 'Expected' or 'Greater Depth' depending on how confident you are with the topic. You can then mark your work and move onto the application and reasoning sheet.
Read through the PowerPoint below. Complete the true or false activity and then use the mini-biography sheet to create a biography about one of the scientists from the PowerPoint. You can research information using the internet.
