VE Day Celebrations!

Today is a very special day. Across the UK, today is a bank holiday to celebrate the 75th anniversary of VE day.

VE Day - or 'Victory in Europe Day' - marks the day towards the end of World War Two (WW2) when fighting against Nazi Germany in Europe came to an end.

On 8 May 1945, Prime Minister Winston Churchill made an announcement on the radio at 3pm that the war in Europe had come to an end, following Germany's surrender the day before.

You can read more about VE Day on the newsround website by clicking here.

Due to this special day, we will not be completing our regular curriculum lessons. Instead, we are asking you to complete some special VE day activities. Have a look at the project planner below to see all of the activities we have prepared for you. Try to complete as many of these as you can throughout the day. All of the resources for these activities can be found on the history page here: https://www.gascoigneprimaryschool.co.uk/ve-day-activities/
