Good Afternoon everyone!!!
How did today’s learning go? I know some of you are still finishing your work, but that’s Ok as long as you try your best. We all are super proud of you as we know that you are working so hard. I am looking forward to seeing your today’s learning on our celebration wall. When you send the pictures of your competed work, remember we are looking for your best handwriting and neat presentation. What did you enjoy the most? I still think I enjoyed watching those videos about animals and their habitats.
I am sure you all enjoyed reading ‘Little Red Riding Hoody’ and then enjoyed writing the character description of the wolf. Did you use the words that Ms provided? How many of you enjoyed maths today? Did you check your answers with the answer sheets? Remember if any of you find any work tricky, visit the ‘tricky’ page for more activities and complete them before having a go at others.
If you have finished all your learning for today, you can take a little break and then later on you can log on to bug club to read more books. Don’t forget to go on TT Rockstar to practice your times tables. Well done to those who are doing both. Remember your teachers are checking who is logging into these websites every day. Have a good rest of the day and enjoy your evening. You know what? Myself and Miss Boyce are in the school today and we can't stop thinking and talking about you all. We all miss you very very much. Be good and look after yourselves.
Finally, I want to take this opportunity to thank all your parents/carers for supporting us at every stage of your home learning; we wouldn’t be able to achieve what we are achieving without their support. We are so proud to see that learning of our children is still going on and that is only possible with your hard work and support.
Mrs Vora and the Year 2 Team
Good Morning Year 2!!!
I hope you and your families are safe and healthy. Ramadan Mubarak to all those who are celebrating.
Welcome back to another week of learning from home. How was your weekend? Did you do anything special? I did a very simple but interesting Biology experiment about germinating seeds with my Son. I hope you all had a restful weekend and you are all ready for another exciting week of learning. I must say that our wall of celebration looks very good. I am so proud of each and every one of you. I am looking forward to seeing many more names on that wall.
Start off your day with some physical activity. I know most of you enjoy working out with Joe Wicks, I know I do. It makes me huff and puff like the Big Bad Wolf but I enjoy working out with him. Remember to drink plenty of water and cool down after you work out.
In Reading, we are going to read to a new version of ‘Little Red Riding Hood’; just like we usually do. Remember ‘Jack and Beanstalk’ and ‘Jack and the Baked Beanstalk’? Nothing different from that. This week we are going to read ‘Little Red Riding Hoody’, a play by Jeanne Willis. As you start reading, can you notice similarities and differences between the two settings, characters and two stories? How about creating a Venn diagram to compare the two stories once you have read the story? I have not read this version of the story and I can’t wait to read it!!!
In SPaG you have been given few ‘special friends’ (Sounds) and you need to think of at least three words containing those sounds. Why don’t you challenge yourself by thinking of some words with those sounds and then choosing a suffix to make new and meaningful words?
Who would like to research about some animals and their habitats? If you think you do, that’s exactly what you need to do in Science this week. The videos are very interesting and helpful. Let me give you a hint……. Try to find animals with various habitats; who remembers the rainforest video we saw in class as part of Geography lesson?
In Writing, you are going to do a character description. We have done character descriptions so many times in class that I am sure all of you will remember that a good character description includes the appearance and personality of the character. Use the PowerPoint for your reference. Make sure you use adjectives, words with suffixes, and common exception words in your writing.
In Maths, you are going to start with number family as your starter and this week we are going to learn position and direction. Remember to go through the PowerPoint first and refresh your memory about some vocabulary, for example, ‘clockwise’, ‘anti-clockwise’, ‘half turn’, ‘full turn’ etc.
Remember if you find any of the work difficult or tricky, visit the tricky page and find more activities there to complete.
I know some of your family members might be fasting this month; it’s a bit hard for them to go without food and especially drink on warm sunny days like these, so be MINDFUL of that and support them by being helpful and being good.
Be good and start your learning with a smile on your face and a positive mindset. Don’t forget to take mind breaks if you feel that you need to regulate your thoughts. It’s your turn now. Have a go and enjoy your learning, I will talk to you again at the end of the school day.
