Good afternoon Year 2
How did you get on with your home learning tasks today? Have you completed the Science comprehension sheet about healthy eating yet? Just like we do at school, make sure you are eating your fruit and vegetables at home to help keep you strong and healthy!
I know we are adapting to new routines at home but I just wanted you to know how proud we are of all of you for keeping up your positive attitudes and trying your hardest, even though you aren't at school. I read a poem earlier on that helped me to understand a little bit more about what is happening in the world at the moment and I wanted to share it with you this afternoon. Is that ok?
The Time We Spring-Cleaned The World
The world it got so busy,
There were people all around.
They left their germs behind them;
In the air and on the ground.
These germs grew bigger and stronger.
They wanted to come and stay.
They didn't want to hurt anyone-
They just really wanted to play!
Sometimes they tried to hold your hand,
Or tickled your throat or your nose.
They could make you cough and sneeze,
And make your face as red as a rose!
And so the germs took over.
They started to make people ill,
And with every cough we coughed,
More and more germs would spill!
All the queens and kings had a meeting,
"It's time to clean the world up!" they said.
And so they had to close lots of fun stuff,
Just so the germs couldn't spread.
We couldn't go to cinemas,
Or restaurants for our tea.
There was no football or parties,
The world got as quiet as can be.
The kids stopped going to school,
The mums and dads went to work less.
Then a great, big, giant scrubbing brush
Cleaned the sky and the sea and the mess!
Dads started teaching sums,
Big brothers played with us more,
Mums were in charge of homework
And we read and played jigsaws galore!
The whole world was washing their hands
And building super toilet forts!
Outside was quiet and peaceful,
Now home was the place for all sports.
So we played in the world that was home,
And our days filled with fun and love,
And the germs they grew smaller and smaller
And the sun watched from up above.
Then one morning the sun woke up early,
She smiled and stretched her beams wide.
The world had been fully spring cleaned,
It was time to go back outside!
We opened our doors oh so slowly
And breathed in the clean and fresh air.
We promised that forever and always,
Of this beautiful world we would take care!
The world is just having a spring clean at the moment so that's why it's safest for us to be at home. Keep up all of your hard work - we are so excited to see it all!
Enjoy your evening Year 2
Gooooood morning Year 2!
I hope you and your families are keeping yourselves safe by staying indoors and spending some time together. Yesterday, my family and I were watching a live stream of the animals at London Zoo - I loved watching the Penguins splashing about. Here is the link if you would like to watch some animals live today:
Maybe you could draw a picture of your favourite animal and write some sentences to tell us why.
Don't forget to head over to the P.E page for 9am this morning to join Joe Wicks for his morning workout. It is really important to keep our bodies active all the time, but especially whilst we are learning at home!
For your English task today, you will be writing the beginning of your story. If you have some coloured pens at home, why don't you use them to help you improve and edit your writing? We can't wait to read them!
In Maths, you are using your number line method to help you subtract. Ms Datta has made some examples for you to have a look at (parents, check the Powerpoint link first!) Remember to use your rulers to help keep your learning looking lovely and tidy.
If you have any questions, click the link to email Ms Shermin and she will pass on the message to your teacher.
Keep safe and keep washing those hands!
Enjoy your day.
