Good afternoon year 2,

Hope you have had a productive day completing your activities. Since our topic is Street Detectives, I have been doing some Street detective work. In my local park I have noticed a man who stands in the park for half an hour with his hands stretched. How strange… Have you noticed anything strange?

How many of you managed to summarize the story to your family? Please email some of your interesting sentences to Ms Shermin.  I know some of you must be getting ready for Ramadan.  Did you enjoy reading Samira’s story about Eid?

Year 2 teachers are extremely proud of those children who are reading books on their Bug Club. We want everyone to read books and remember to answer questions in complete sentences and also to give explanations when required. Also, don’t forget to go on Rock stars and Purple Mash.

Since you are detectives this term why not create something which a detective might use to spy. You can use anything bottles, papers, boxes or anything you can find. Let’s see who accepts this challenge.

Remember to tidy up at the end of the day and keep talking to your family if you are worried about anything.

Have a lovely evening and stay safe!

Mrs Datta

Good morning year 2,

We hope you had a lovely Easter break and are ready to begin your learning again. We do miss seeing you and talking to you face to face but it’s important for everyone to stay safe.

This Term you are the Street Detectives!!

  Our Summer 1 topic rationale for this half term is;

‘Developing pride in our local community…”

Principle:      Our World

UNCRC Right:  Article 27: The right to food, clothing and a safe place to live.

Today start your day with Joe wicks. Remember to keep yourselves active because if you have an active mind you can achieve a lot.

In Maths, You will be testing your multiplication skills.  I’m confident you will smash it.

In Literacy, you will be revising the Little Red Riding Hood story. How about summarizing the story to your family in less than 3 minutes? Don’t forget all those character names. Who is your favourite character and why?

In Reading, you will be looking at the new vocabulary. I would like to see some interesting sentences. How about extending your sentences by adding an adverb? You can check what an adverb is in today’s Spag sheet.

This term’s Science is very exciting, do you know what a habitat is? I have noticed lots of nests in the trees. I wonder whose habitat that is. How about doing some detective work because you are the street detectives this term!!

Well, have a good day and I will speak to you this afternoon.

Mrs Datta
