Mrs E Taha

Co-opted Governor

Since I moved to live in Barking in 2007, I loved the harmony of the local community and I especially, admired and appreciated the diversity of ‘Gascoigne Primary School’. I have a firm belief in the importance of education as a value in itself and in the central role of schools in the local community.  I feel that I share in the school’s vision and ethos in providing high quality education which inspire and motivate children to think -in- and out-side of the classroom as well as promote achievement in a secure, positive and stimulating environment.

Therefore, I wanted to become a Governor in order to have the opportunity to make a difference not only for my children, but for all children in years to come.  By becoming a school governor, I have the privilege of giving something back to the local community and help to support the school, staff and parents in every way I can.

I have always loved to make difference by trying to be an active member of the society. Therefore, I have joined in several voluntary activities in my community. I am an active member of the Patient Participation Group of the Child and Family local GP – since 2007 - where I offer suggestions to improve the delivery of services provided to patients at the GP.  I joined the neighbourhood watch team in my ward and I have also joined Together4Gascoigne Parents’ Forum and in the local children centre where I try to participate in children’s activities especially during the holidays.

Professionally, I am a postgraduate medical electronics engineer. I worked in higher education for 3 years as a lecturer of Physics. Now, I am a qualified Science and Mathematics teacher in secondary schools.  These roles have taught me the importance of enthusing children in science, technology, engineering and medicine (STEM). I hope to support the wonderful environment this school provides for our children and encouraging its culture of scientific and mathematical enquiry – through role models and creative teaching.
